Writing NFC tags from the web only works on Android phones with Chrome (or Edge). Neither iPhones nor computers allow it — that is not a bug on this page, it is a limitation of those systems.
Two ways round it:
🔒 Nothing leaves your phone. The link is written straight to the chip from your browser: it never passes through a server of ours.
NTAG213 stickers, the standard. Between 15 and 50 cents each in packs of 50 or 100. They have no battery: they draw power from the phone's own signal, so they last for years.
From an Android with Chrome, paste the address above and press write. Hold the tag against the back of the phone and a second later it is done.
On a table, a shop window, a card, or inside a 3D printed part. Anyone who taps a phone against it sees your link open with no camera and no scanning.
It is a sticker thinner than a sheet of paper with a copper antenna and a tiny chip inside. It has no battery and never runs flat: when you bring a phone close, the phone itself sends over just enough energy to wake it up and have it hand over whatever is stored on it. That is why an NFC tag will work the same in ten years as it does today.
Watch out for a very common mix-up: NFC is not the same as an «NFT». An NFT is a digital certificate of ownership recorded on a blockchain — cryptocurrency territory. NFC is physical technology, the same one you use when you pay with your phone.
Less than people imagine, and it does not matter: the NTAG213 holds 144 bytes, plenty for an ordinary web address. If your link is enormous — one of those with twenty parameters trailing behind it — shorten it first. The NTAG215 (504 bytes) and NTAG216 (888 bytes) exist for oddities like storing a whole contact card; for a link they are money down the drain.
Metal, and only metal. A tag stuck on a metal surface stops working, because metal absorbs the magnetic field. If you need it there, buy the ones marked «on metal»: they carry a ferrite layer that shields the chip. Plastic, wood, paper, glass and fabric do not get in the way at all — NFC goes through one or two millimetres of material without trouble.
A printed QR code carries the link drawn into it; change address and you reprint everything. An NFC tag is rewritten in ten seconds and can take it thousands of times. Switch digital menu, website or campaign, reprogram the tags, and the same objects carry on working. It is the difference between a poster and a screen.

On an Android with Chrome you can do it right here: type the link, press «Write» and hold the tag against the back of the phone. It takes a second. On iPhone or on a computer you need a free app such as NFC Tools, because those systems don't let the browser write to tags.
Yes — NTAG213 and similar take thousands of rewrites, and a new link simply replaces the old one. They only stop being rewritable if somebody deliberately locks them, and that cannot be undone.
For a link, the NTAG213 is plenty: 144 bytes. Between £0.15 and £0.50 each in packs of 50 or 100. Going onto metal? Then you need the «on metal» type.
For reading, yes: every iPhone from the XR onwards reads tags with nothing installed, just bring the top of the phone close. For writing you need a free app, because Apple doesn't let the browser write to chips.
Because you're on an iPhone or a computer. Writing from the browser only works on Android with Chrome or Edge. Open this same page on an Android phone and the button appears by itself.

Not from the browser: the web can only write links and text. For Wi-Fi you need the NFC Tools app, which has that record type. As an alternative, our QR generator does create printable Wi-Fi codes.
